Japanese authorities have decided that:

It is permissible to make contributions to politicians using cryptocurrencies like BitCoin.

BitCoin is not money.

Therefore, the limitations on the amount of money which can be donated to politicians do not apply to BitCoin.

Wow – unlimited campaign contributions with limited traceability. These guys must be salivating…

I can only assume that politicians all over the world (and probably on other planets as well) are busily scribbling notes on the legislation they would have to introduce to make this a reality in their jurisdictions.
